With tears welling in her eyes, one woman named Magdale, tecalls two years ago when she would squat at a corner in her grass-thatched house to avoid the rain. Those days she cooked any green leaf for vegetables after her five children died, leaving behind a jobless son. But that is now behind her. A Kisumu couple, touched by her plight gave her shelter. At her age she struggled to squat at a corner until rain subsided but now she is happy living in a roofed house. The widow, who lost her husband 45 years ago poverty, sickness and hopelessness characterise the lives of many widows in Rumba village in Kogony location, Kisumu West. It is this sad situation that touched Nancy and Jonas Okoth to start A rise and shine, a community based organisation, from Nancy's severance package after she resigned from job at kisumu. The NGO as an Organization , is helpful and generous Oganisation . On ARRIVING IN KENYA , ITS FIRST STARTED by heping the need of . How? It firstd started by bringing then ogetehrt . It gave them food by donating equally among the needy pepole ,something that no other project would do it. Many people were rescued and atleast taken at a better position .Secondly ,it gave them houses and other sheltrs. This benefited people by looking for places day and avoid crng STD.
