Summary
Relief International (RI) has launched its shelter reconstruction program in 3 villages to save the lives of survivors and is providing nutrition to thousands through RI’s food distribution program.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
A powerful earthquake erupted along the India-Pakistan border causing extensive damage in Afghanistan, India and Pakistan. Reports indicate more than 80,000 people have been killed and over 3.5 million people have been left homeless. Survivors are in desperate need of food, water, shelter, and basic medical assistance. RI has deployed a team of 4 doctors loaded with medical supplies and has lauched it Village reconstruction program which is erected temporary shelters.
How will this project solve this problem?
RI is constructing single family shelters in 3 villages in order to save lives of earthquake survivors above the snowline. Once emergency shelter needs have been met, RI will also reconstruct schools, mosques,etc.
Potential Long Term Impact
Relief International is working closely with Pakistani organizations to support long-term relief and rebuilding in Pakistan.

With many of the 2.5 million homeless being in the Himalayan mountain range, this disaster is different from many others…If we delay, many…survivors will die of cold and illness in the coming months
