Catholic diocese in Nakuru carries out capain to increase awareness of the use of bonechar to help families prevent fluorosis. In my course project I was inspired by the project and together with my friends we combined boneechar slow sand process to make a water filters for small families. Importance Of Water

By a male, 16-21 years old, in Kisumu, Kenya
Map of importance of water water is one of needs that one cannot do without. in our area in Nyabondo plateau, when thre is no kiln we do suffer water.Every living organism needs water for various life processes. How would be without water? we find that in most of oururban centres there are sometimes that there are scarcity of water.During these period when there is scarcity of water, most of our fellows are being faced by varoius diseasesmaninly the ones being transmitted through water known as waterborne diseases. Some of these diseases are very dangerous and can kill with minutes causing harm and loses to our communities.Water has many uses compared to others, we need water to quench thirst water our plant for domestic use for cleaning machines among others. When using water we need ti know the safetyof the water, many of us have ignored the cleanlinessof water by just looking at it with their naked eyes not knowing that no matter how water may look clean, bacteria causing diseases may still be in the water if not heated.some of this factors are difficult to maintain especially to the people living between 50-100 shilling to adhere with. That is why one day my villagers including elders came together and brought the idea of making our envoronment clean including the water we drink. They said that when i was a little boy of twelve years that, they need to protect the lives of their sons and daughters for them to do these they were to help their sons and daughters know the importance of being clean and taking clean water. In all area it is worse when there is scarcity water.people travel a longer distance to get even a pail of water. In there discussion they said they were going to construct a well of their own and fetch water from it very new to the people atleast to make their lives a little bit easy. They constructed the well and it really helped the villagers as people could now not walk a longer distance looking for water but get water very easily which makes the work easy as time coild be saved & people concentrated on their farms busy planting crops that can boost their lives. This eventually led to high supply of food in the village as they could eat fresh vegetables from their farms without any problem. The project which was supported by youths by then headed by my father who stood very firm to ensure that the well was constructed really helped the villagers alot and people could now be free knowing that water is life and so many children were brought up being shown the importance of that well and resons why it was built i really thanked my father who stood firm to ensure that things are in the right place.
