Summary
This project provides funding for essential social mobilization items needed to conduct high-quality polio immunization in India including media, posters, advertisements and volunteer caps and aprons.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
While most areas of India are today polio-free, a new outbreak centered in and around the Moradabad district, western Uttar Pradesh, is increasing the risk of further national and international spread of polio. Specific actions are being taken to urgently address the outbreak, including conducting large-scale polio immunization activities. To be successful, social mobilization tools are needed. These tools are provided by PolioPlus Partners.
How will this project solve this problem?
COMMUNICATE when and where polio immunization activities will occur with advertisements, media and posters. IDENTIFY health workers and volunteers with caps and aprons. REWARD children and parents with incentives to encourage participation.
Potential Long Term Impact
The project will help educate millions of Indian families on how to protect their children from contracting polio, and will provide essential tools to thousands of volunteers and health workers to conduct high-quality polio immunization activities.
Project Message
"If polio is not eradicated, it'll come back as strongly as it ever has in the past. No child anywhere in the world will be safe."
- Deepak Kapur, Chairman Rotary India National PolioPlus Committee
