Summary
The purpose of this project is to provide drinking-quality water to three schools and a health clinic in the village of Otates y Cantarranas, Mexico.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
This project will benefit the community of Otates y Cantarranas by providing a reliable source of drinking water to schoolchildren and patients of the health clinic. Without this project, the village does not have a reliable water source for these community buildings during their dry season from November to June. Scope of the project includes a well, pump, chlorination system, distribution lines, and a new water tank.
How will this project solve this problem?
The Washington Way chapter of Engineers Without Borders is providing engineering services, materials, instruction and construction supervision to the village.
Potential Long Term Impact
Over the long term, this project will provide a more sanitary and hospitable environment for the schoolchildren and clinic patients of the town. Future projects in this program will provide for similar basic needs in neighboring communities.
