Roberta Guaspari began teaching in Harlem public schools in 1981. She developed her own teaching method which has been used by teachers around the world. She began Opus 118 in 1991 when music programs in East Harlem public schools were decimated due to budget cuts. Because of her vision and persistence, Opus 118 continues to give high quality music instruction to its students.
