NW AR RC&D intends to help 50 poverty stricken homeowners in NW Arkansas with serious home repairs. Arkansas is the second poorest state in the nation with many people living in unsafe conditions.
In Arkansas 18.5 % of residents live below the poverty level. Many of these residents are elderly or disabled homeowners living on a fixed income or single parent homes where one adult is attempting to support several children after a death or divorce. People's homes in are literally falling down around them because they have no hope of being able to do repairs. NW AR RC&D would like to offer assistance to the most needy helping them bring their homes up to a safe livable standard.
The issues we are planning to address pose major health and safety issues to the public. This list includes but is not limited to leaky roofs, unsafe wiring, leaky plumbing, sewer issues, inadequate insulation or broken heating and cooling units.
This project will help 50 low income homeowners repair their homes and provide the much needed adequate shelter essential to their health and safety.
