The Becky Fund will build greenhouses and provide agricultural training at schools in the rural villages of Peru's Sacred Valley to educate and improve the health of students.
The projects are conducted in rural villages near Cuzco, Peru. Low temperatures in these high-altitude climates prevent communities from growing basic fruits and vegetables essential for a well-rounded diet. Constructing greenhouses and providing agricultural education gives students the skills necessary to provide better nutrition in the short-term, while offering practical knowledge to be applied in the long-term.
We build greenhouses to develop and implement an agricultural education program into the regular curriculum of community schools. The nutritional benefits and practical skills improve health, classroom performance and future prospects for children.
Up to 200 children at each school will receive nutritious meals and learn agricultural skills that will provide basic necessities for families, improve performance in the classroom, and support the community's well-being.
“Our projects not only provide better food and skills for them, but the kids also get a profound sense of hope and optimism that persists throughout their lives."
