We are so thankful for the generous support we have received from our supporters over the last few months. We truly could not do this without you.
The nutrition program continues to draw much interest and we hope to deliver this program to all the communities seeking to improve their overall nutritional health and well-being. To do this, we need to keep promoting the program locally and raising support internationally. Through Global Giving and our generous supporters, we are able to make incremental steps towards reaching our goals for healthier communities in Cameroon. Thank you for your support of and interest in the work we are doing.
We are excited with the healthy nutrition movement that is happening in local communities. We continue to promote the nutrition program through local radio programs in the Buea region and the nutrition program is drawing plenty of interest. Providing nutritional information and methods are having tangible health benefits in rural communities where they are most needed. Healthy diets are leading to healthier communities and healthier communities are allowing individuals and families to achieve their full potential. We see this happening in the communities we partner with and this encourages us to keep working each day towards tangible, empowering, and positive change.
Once again, we thank you for your continued support. We hope to soon update you with more exciting news from the communities and individuals utilizing our nutrition program.
We would like to thank you for your continued support of and interest in the work we are doing. In this progress report we are attaching a summary of the training we carried out with a new women's group. It was a great opportunity for us to work with women to share the importance of family nutrition and empower women with the knowledge needed to implement a health diet.

We continue to promote the nutrition program through local radio programs in the Buea region and the nutrition program continues to draw plenty of interest. We have many groups to work with, so it is just a matter of making the most of our time and resources as we work to empower individuals and communities with the transforming knowledge of healthy diets.
We believe in, and see in communities, the many benefits that arise out of a healthy diet. Providing nutritional information and methods are having tangible health benefits in rural communities where they are most needed. Healthy diets are leading healthier communities and healthier communities allow individuals and families to achieve their full potential.
First of all, we would like to sincerely thank our generous Global Giving donors for their continued support. We could not do this without you.
Second, we would like to share about the exciting new partnership we have made with a local community.
During the nutrition training we were conducting in Bonakanda (a local village), the FORUDEF banner and the training workshop attracted the attention of the president of a Common Interest Group in Bova II, a neighboring village. He came into the community hall and met with us. After a few questions and some discussion, we realized that the CIG in Bova II (Green Hills) village shares many common objectives with FORUDEF. The Green Hills' CIG works with bee hives for honey production, and also nurses various fruit trees for both improved honey quality (conservation) and the villagers’ diets. One of their main objectives was also to improve the nutrition of their village, but they lacked expertise.
This meeting was like a dream come true, as it allowed us to partner with another village and it allowed them to gain some valuable training and knowledge. After FORUDEF staff paid a visit to the group and their demonstration farm, FORUDEF decided to work with the Green Hills community. Since then we have carried out the first two phases of the nutrition program. The community has embraced the program and they are using their new knowledge and training to improve the nutrition of their families and community.
“With what we have learned, we will never be the same again. We had the food but did not know the better mix." ~Mojoko, community participant
We continue to see interest in our program grow and we are grateful for the opportunities we have to partner with new communities.
Healthy Diets for Healthy Communities in Cameroon
We are so thankful for the increased support we have received from our supporters over the last few months.
Now that the rainy season has drawn to its conclusion, the dryer weather is allowing us to fully implement our nutritional endeavors with the remote communities of Akwaya.
The Bomaka Women’s Group and the Ngie Women’s Common Interest Group continued to work through the fourth phase of the nutrition program in partnership with FORUDEF staff. This included continuing to plant, harvest, consume, and sell the produce from the group nurseries. As such, these groups now have the skills and expertise to continue integrating healthy eating into their lives on their own, with FORUDEF continuing to provide expertise and support when needed.
The Feed Well, Feed Right, Feel Healthy program’s radio broadcasts have continued to garner excellent support from the public and attract new interest from around the region. The radio broadcast is proving to be one of the most effective ways of educating the public in a broad sense, and inspiring discussions around healthy eating.
Work in Progress
The Green Hills CIG and Bonakanda Women CIG continued to participate in the first phase of the nutrition program. FORUDEF staff led these groups through training workshops where they discussed local illnesses related to malnutrition, the role of nutrition in health, and local foods and resources that contain essential nutrients. Both groups gave excellent workshop reviews, and left inspired and equipped with the base knowledge to begin improving the dietary health of their families and community.
We want to extend our gratitude for your support of our work in building stronger, healthier families and communities. We truly believe that community building is a collaborative process with different groups contributing in different ways to the change that we have seen in rural villages all across the Southwest region of Cameroon. And, this could not happen without your valuable contributions.
