15 children from low-income families in metro Atlanta, USA, will receive one-year scholarships for quality child care and early education that prepares children for school and allows parents to work.
This project supplies child care tuition scholarships to metro Atlanta families who work hard, but earn little. Quality early education and child care makes a huge long-term impact on children from disadvantaged backgrounds. They grow up to do better in school and as adults they break out of the cycle of poverty. Donors to Sheltering Arms ensure that family income does not deprive a child of the nurturing care that will help her to make the most of the critical early years of development.
Children will participate in a full-day, full-year, learn-through-play educational program focused on school readiness, while parents will benefit from comprehensive family support services including workshops on parenting, health, and job skills.
Good child care ensures a stable workforce today, while early education builds an educated workforce tomorrow. $1 spent on quality early child care and education saves as much as $17 in future costs of remediation, welfare, and incarceration.
Sheltering Arms lets children take wing. And I have seen whole families start to fly
