Summary

The Home Field Advantage project will build volleyball and soccer facilities, along with clean water sources, to disadvantaged children in rural areas outside Johannesburg, South Africa.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

By building sports facilities and clean water sources at schools in this rural area, the Home Field Advantage project endeavors to make school the epicenter of families in these underserved communities, boosting attendance rates and building self-esteem in young children. Kids here, particularly young girls, spend hours a day collecting clean water for their families and do not attend school. They have no opportunity to learn and play. This project will give kids the chance to just be kids!

How will this project solve this problem?

Build volleyball courts & soccer fields with benches for spectators and lights/fences for safe play. Build clean water sources for sanitation and safe drinking. Boost school attendance rates and make education a priority. Foster self-esteem. Play!

Potential Long Term Impact

Give children the chance to just be kids! Children in rural areas near Joburg have no access to clean water, often do not attend school, and have no resources to play. This program makes education a priority & builds self-esteem through sports.
