Much has happened since our last report. Even though we’ve had winter weather (snow, rain and wind), the construction effort if moving forward. DP Plumbing has installed the under-the-floor heat for the kennels and the drain system for the new shelter. The base of the building is now ready for the concrete. The next step will be preparing the foundation for the manufactured steel building. The construction costs are running in the red about $20k. We will be looking for ways to make-up for those costs.
NASF and Newberg Animal Control have toured other local and county shelters to determine the best construction for our Newberg kennels. This is the area of the building we’ll concentrate on first. All efforts will be made to complete the kennel areas so the animals can be moved as soon as possible to their new home. We will be looking for material and labor donations to finish the interior.
We expect the steel building to be delivered within the next few weeks. Pictures will be available on Facebook and in our on-line newsletter, Flea-mail. Please sign-up for our on-line newsletter at our website (the event page) to get the latest project news.
