Man Bahadur Pariyar - Founder, New Home for Orphan Children
Although born into Hinduism, Man Pariyar was self-aware enough at young age to see clearly the lingering effects of the caste system on Nepalese widows and society. Astounded by the equality shown by Christians and struck by the overwhelming poverty of Nepal, Man found a calling to help the increasing number of abandoned children, adding them to his family until officially founding NHOC in 2005.
Kamala Pariyar - Director, Widows Care Ministry
As the wife of Man Pariyar, Kamala opened her home and her heart to more than a dozen children. She recognized that many children had widowed mothers who could no longer support them, and dedicated her time to helping widows become financially independent through handicraft work. She hopes that one day women will be able to take charge of their lives and as women, become the leaders of the home.
Sarah Rogers - Director, Outreach, Fundraising & Special Projects
After living in developing countries halfway across the world, Sarah learned a great sense of humanity. In working to understand the education of women in mobile communities at the heart of India’s developing centers, she dedicated herself to being proactive to make sustainable change. Sarah currently works in education research and reform in the US, as well as teaching students about her travels.
