Nase Mesto - the biggest corporate volunteering event in Central Europe, which takes place simultaneously in several towns across Slovakia. It enables us to support the involvement of employees and volunteers and communicate the benefits of voluntary community support. Since 2007, more than 20 000 volunteers showed up. We have took part in renovating 14 castle ruins, 500 parks & playgrounds, 10 homeless / animal shelters. We trained 1000 people from NGOs & spent a time with 1000 NGOs clients.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
It happened in the Cafe, 9 years ago. Colleague Lenka told us about New York Cares - thousands volunteers cleaned up New York City. We need to organize the same, we said, if we want to inspire people in the country with no volunteering tradition. A few months later, we founded with 13 companies Engage group. Their employees eliminated in 2004-2006 the consequences of the Tatras calamity. In 2007 we launched 1st year of Nasa Bratislava; with 400 volunteers we beautified the city. Story continue..
How will this project solve this problem?
Nase Mesto will take place in selected cities over two days in June. Each city will have its own coordinator. Individual volunteer activities will be organized by NGOs, schools, nurseries, local authorities or volunteers. They will receive grant to purchase necessary material. The employees of various companies, as well as the general public can join together and donate their time and efforts to support many worthy causes. All information are on nasemesto.sk through which volunteers will sign-up
