EXCITING TERM

This  year started with a lot of events and excitements as we had ordered School Uniforms for all children who had no uniform IN December 2012, before we closed the school.  In January 2013, these uniforms were delivered and all who had no uniforms were supplied with one pair each.  This was realized because of kind hearts of our donors who have made these kids very proud.  THANK YOU!

Also the kids who were in the Nursery Class last year graduated to Pre-School and Class One (1) this term (2013).  Again, our long time prayers were that we teach these kids up-to Class 8 without them running back to their usual dump-sites.  Last year we had 11 children who sat for Std 8 (Kenya Primary School Examinations) and we are happy to let our friends and donors know that out of 11 children, we had 7 kids who passed this examination.  They have to join Form One (1) this year.  We have tried all we could to see that this kids  join Secondary Schools.   With your help, we have managed to pay the First Term school fees for them.  We are praying that we shall get more assistance so that we continue paying their Secondary School fees.

We also have 4 children who failed these exams.  We are planning to give them some sort of training if we can get assistance from our well-wishers, donors and friends so that they learn and empower themselves to sustain their future.  We have also constructed a reasonable Library to secure their  books.

We  sincerely that all our well-wishers and donors out there.   We pray  for  God to open blessings  to  YOU  so that  YOU can be  a blessing to these children who dearly depend on YOU.

God bless you,

GOD ANSWERS PRAYERS

Last term of this year has been like "a dream come true" at this School.  Since we started this project, everyone at the School and the community at large has been  praying that these kids should at least be patient and do Std 8 examinations.  And for sure, for the first time, we had 17 children, 9 girls and 8 boys who sat for Kenya Primary Education Examinations!  This is an achievement through our very hardworking teachers and the feeding programe, otherwise they would have gone back to the streets and dump-sites in search of food, drugs and prostitution.

Because of the assistance of donors, we have managed to purchase uniforms to all children who did not have any and bought more reading books, pencils, rulers and sanitary towels for our girls.  We have bought enough ARVs through your kind donations and have made an agreement with Soweto/Kayole Clinic to supply more throughout next year at our usual  subsdised cost.  We have ordered  100 pairs of shoes of different sizes for the kinds who have been walking on bare feet and I am sure they will  be excited to put on shoes when the School will open next year.

Next year, if God wishes, we are planning to build 3 more pit-latrines as the 2 we have are full and can infect our kids with cholera, etc.  We had our School Pastor with us when we were closing for Christmas holidays and he said "SURELY GOD ANSWERS PRAYERS" and sincerely God answered our prayers this year.

We are looking for 2013 as a challenging year because we have 17 children  (boys and girls) who have done exams and we  believe through your continuous kind donation, we shall have to create some sort of training for them so that they keep themselves busy  and not turn back to prostitution and drugs on the streets.  We sincerely thank  every donor so passionately.  May God richly bless you, your work, your  families and your entire life.  We pray that you will continue extending your kind hands towards these children so that they may learn and eventually be able to sustain themselves in life.

Once again, thank you and God bless you all and have a wonderful Christmas and a very successful 2013.

FACING CHALLENGES

During this quarter, there were many challenges which really needed courage.   Many children needed uniforms and games kits.  Teachers  had to work extra hours in order to coach our Std 8  pupils who are preparing for  Kenya Primary examination at the end of this year.   Since we have registered with MYSA,  our Games teachers (Christine and  Richard) had to work hard to see that children have to go to the field when games time is allocated so that they participate in all games and football. All these needed teachers devotion in order to accomplish these.

We had visitors from Detol Company who gave us lectures on hygiene.  and distributed  DETOL SOAPS to all children and teachers.

We also received visitors from OXFORD PUBLISHERS  who distributed  exercise books, pencils, pens and chalks.   We also received a “well-wisher” who distributed clothes to all children who do not have clothes.

We had an educational tour to  Umoja which was very successful and enjoyable to all teachers and pupils.  All these events were happening while our Project Manager/Trustee. Zipporah was sick and confined on her bed.  But the school management  made sure that they inform her of  every development on day to day progress.

The school closed and now opening with a lot of challenges too as  this third term is tough with exams, which means that we must have enough food to take us through this period  pf pre-examinations and National Examination to avoid children running away before they sit for them.

We really thank all of you to have put this school and the pupils to your hearts.  May God bless the works of your hands as you extend  your generosity to them.

God bless you.

SPORT MINISTRY'S RECOGNITION

SECOND QUARTER       -    MARCH-JUNE

Mzesa Day Care Center has been recognized by the Ministry of Sports, which is a very big step ahead for the boys and girls that we have.  We have been registered in MYSA, (Mathare Youth Sports Association), a body which takes care of sports in this area. Many activities have happened and a lot of football training has taken place, prompting  teachers and pupils exchanging ideas as they place.  We have had many visitors from the Ministry of Health coming to counsel  our big boys and girls on  HIV/AIDS and various sex related issues.

Since this is the first year for the School to sit for Kenya Primary School Examinations, teachers are working extra hard and many giving in their hours to see that our children performs in their examination this year.   We take this opportunity to thank all our partners, supporters, encouragers and the community as a whole who have given us hope and assistance during this time when things are hard  to afford.  We are looking forward to buying Games/Sports uniforms for these children so that they can with others, and it is your kind heart towards these children that will make it happen.

Thank you and may God bless you  so mightly.

WONDERFUL TIMES

Mzesa kids on trip
Mzesa kids on trip

We opened with wonderful memories of well wishers who showered blessings of all sorts to these children. During the Christmas period, we had few shillings and managed to take these kids to the bomas of Kenya to watch various cultural dances and see various activities. We then proceeded to the Game Park where they saw various animals which they only read and had never seen them. This was wonderful time for them and they have never forgotten about the trips. THANKS FOR ALL YOUR EFFORTS AND BLESSINGS. Your donations have had a far reaching end for the kids and will never ever forget in their entire life.

We have continued to have blessings! We have been visited by various people who have donated clothes of various sizes, shoes and blankets. Our Councilor has bought 2 sacks of beans and 1 sack of maize for the kids to make sure that there is continuity for learning as it has been proved that when there is no food, most of the kids run back to the streets and dump-sides in search of food. Although food prices and other commodities has rocketed up, we have had our kids in their classes because of your continuous support. We thank everyone who has extended a kind hand and donated anything in form of money, clothes, food, shoes, etc be blessed. We continue to pray that God blesses you so mighty so that you continue blessing these kids in order for them to achieve something in their lives.

God bless,

Zipporah
