As the holiday season spreads throughout Los Angeles, Education Through Music-LA is grateful for your support in bringing quality in-school music education programs to more students than ever. Currently, we are serving approximately 3,000 children with in-school music classes and are thrilled to see them demonstrating not only greater musical skills and ability, but also higher math and reading scores.
The past several months have been an extremely busy time for ETM-LA – we celebrated our 5th Year Anniversary with a rockin’ Benefit Gala at the House of Blues, featuring Lalah Hathaway, Patrice Rushen and Ben Vereen and ETM-LA and King-Drew Magnet High School violin and guitar students who gave a moving performance of Honoree Michael Giacchino’s theme to Disney Pixar’s UP. We also conducted a joint professional development workshop with USC Thornton Outreach and the Music Center, giving teaching artists and music educators the opportunity to generate their own discussion topics and leaving them feeling empowered and inspired. Most recently, ETM-LA was proud to have students from three of our partner schools make instruments with and perform for GLEE cast members on the Paramount Studios Lot.
Thanks to your ongoing support Education Through Music-Los Angeles has continued to grow strategically to expand services further in ongoing partner schools, as well as one new partner school – West Hollywood Elementary Public School.
As we celebrate the holiday season with our partner schools’ Winter Concerts, we wish you and your family happy holidays from everyone at ETM-LA!
