Thank you to everyone who helped us reach our goal of $4,000! Your generous contribution will go to MuJER's Leer es Poder project which offers women working in Guatemala City's red light districts with free literacy and K-6th grade level classes.
Our Leer es Poder project was the first outreach program offered by MuJER. Thanks to your generous support, both past and present, the Leer es Poder classes went from being taught in the cramped individual rooms that the women work in to a proper classroom in downtown Guatemala City. While we still offer onsite one-on-one instruction to women who are unable to travel, it is through your support that we can now also offer them a safe space at our Educational Center so they can can escape and focus on their studies.
MuJER currently provides free literacy, educational, and vocational classes to more than 500 women each year. Your contribution to our Leer es Poder project will ensure that every member of our community has the basic skills needed in order to take full advantage of the wide range of classes we offer free of charge.
