Pregnancy Problem

By a female, 22-30 years old, in Busia, Kenya
Map of PREGNANCY PROBLEM My friend Anna was pregnant but the problem with her was that she never loved to attend clinics because of the long queues and the harshness and queries of the nurses. As her friend, i tried my best to convince her to attend clinics so that she could be tested and ensure that the child in her womb was safe but all my persuades landed on a deaf ear. When that failed i spoke to a certain nurse who was of forty five years and mature to come and check on her but Anna stubbornly refused and so i left her to live her life the way she wanted. When the time of delivery came, poor Anna remembered my words in labor ward but it was too late for her. It was found that her child has developed severe complications and therefore had to be removed dead through a surgical operation. Anna cursed herself for her stubbornness and had to live regretting for her stupidity. Read more.

Map of MAKING INFORMED CHOICES On my first day as an intern in Community Transformers Organization, I attended a workshop facilitated by APHIA II organization to teach commercial sex workers the importance of making informed choices while working. For example, the women were asked if they were to choose between getting sh.5000 and having sex without protection they may end up getting HIV/AIDS disease. Which was more costly having the five thousand shillings that could end within a week. The organization also taught the women how to use both the male and female condom. They were also told about T.B disease how it spreads and importance of visiting a doctor when anyone experiences a cough that lasts for two weeks. After the discussion the women were given a chance to talk to the nurse who had come to meet with the women. The women were also given free clinical cards where they were to get free screening for sexualy transmitted infections/ diseases as were as get advice on matters relating to sexuality. Read more.
