Summary

Moving the Goalposts provides opportunities for disadvantaged girls in coastal Kenya. It has been selected to participate in the Football for Hope Festival at the World Cup in South Africa 2010

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

Teenage girls in coastal Kenya lack opportunities in education and employment and have very few chances to become leaders. MTG creates opportunities for such girls and has been selected to take part in the Football for Hope Festival 2010 due to its excellent commitment and track record in the field of Development through Football. This will be a chance for girls to play on the global stage and show people their potential which they rarely get the chance to reach.

How will this project solve this problem?

1. Training in football and leadership and preparation for the young people going to the Festival 2010 2. Travel to South Africa to participate in the Festival of the Football for Hope movement led by FIFA and streetfootballworld

Potential Long Term Impact

The project will take 11 young people from Kilifi, Kenya to the Football for Hope Festival 2010. They will be ambassadors for their organisation and their country and will return to be role models for their peers in Kenya

Project Message

The Festival 2010 provides an opportunity for girls from Kilifi to perform on the global stage and show people that 'Tunaweza' (kiswahili for 'we can do it' - the MTG slogan)
- Margaret Belewa, MTG Programme manager
