Summary

Make a gift to MADRE in honor of a woman who refuses to settle for an unjust world—your mother, sister, daughter, friend, or any special woman—and Global Giving will send a card to that person.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

Your support will benefit women in MADRE's sister organizations in Latin America, Africa, Asia, and the Middle East. The women served by MADRE live on less than $1/day; lack access to basic services like clean water, education, and healthcare; and most are Indigenous and/or African-descent. Through MADRE, they come together to learn about human rights, develop strategies to use the local and international laws that protect them, and create community-based solutions to the challenges they face.

How will this project solve this problem?

Your Mother’s Day gift will support projects that: Combat Violence against Women, Fight Hunger and Malnutrition among Indigenous Families, and Respond Effectively to Natural Disasters and Other Emergencies.

Potential Long Term Impact

MADRE provides resources, training, and support to enable our sister organizations to meet concrete needs in their communities while working to shift the balance of power to promote long-term development and social justice.

Project Message

"A MADRE member who honored her grandmother told me, 'I wanted to do something more than flowers or candy this Mother's Day, to honor my grandma's lifelong commitment to her community and her world'".
