October’s Field Report (Pakistan)

Chikar and Namhoter, Azad Kashmir:  Our teams carried out basic health checks and provided medicines to patients.  A total of 491 patients were seen, about 43 percent of whom were children.

Shikarpur, Sindh: This tertiary care center provides in-patient care to acutely ill children. In October, we treated 1,389 children for gastro-intestinal and respiratory illnesses.

Swat, Khyber Pakhtunwa: With the help of our key donors, Canadian-based International Development and Relief Foundation and our ground partner Comprehensive Disaster Response Services (CDRS), the full service mother child health center is now in its third full month of operations. The women and children here have access to Outpatient Care, Emergency Care, a Pharmacy, a Safe Birth Center, a Laboratory, and Ultrasound facilities.  A total of 1,986 patients were taken care of, at the facility in the month of October.

Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunwa: A new Community Healthcare Center opened its doors in Charsadda, Khyber Pakhtunwa. The Center is a collaboration between SHINE Humanity, IDRF and HEART Canada with CDRS as the implementing partner. The building was ready to be handed over by the owner on Oct 19th. The equipment, medicines, stationery, furniture and the patient beds were delivered shortly after. We were successfully able to open Outpatient Services here on October 26th and started providing medicines and initial checkups to the patients right away. By the end of the month a total of 400 patients were seen. The patient load is proved to be more than what was anticipated.

Sindh Flood Mobile Medical Team: Throughout the month of October, SHINE Humanity and its implementing partner CDRS have been providing mobile medical services to recent flood affectees in Sindh.  This follows earlier food distribution effort in September. The flood medical team has conducted medical camps in the following districts: Tando Allahyar, Tando Muhammad Khan, Hyderabad, Badin, Jamshoro, Mirpur Khas, Sangar and Umar Kot in the last one month and treated 5,325 patients.
