This project advances mother-child health, hygiene and nutrition in disaster-hit Pakistan by revitalizing healthcare facilities and improving primary and preventive services in rural communities.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Political problems and natural disasters of the last decade have exacerbated challenges to health of mothers and children in Pakistan. Maternal deaths and infant mortality are high due to lack of facilities & services. Inadequate food supplies and poor living conditions created by recent floods worsens the outlook for rural communities which make up 75% of the country. This project improves primary and preventive care for the most destitute women and children.
How will this project solve this problem?
SHINE Humanity revitalizes destroyed healthcare facilities and puts in place skilled personnel, resources and management systems to address nutrition and hygiene-related challenges and illnesses. We leave behind sustainable programs.
Potential Long Term Impact
This program will provide high quality health services that combat maternal and child morbidity and mortality. It will also train local women on preventative health and nutrition and, help educate the community at large.
