June is the beginning of the rainy season in the Ouelessebougou area, which means mosquitoes are on the horizon. This year the Alliance has provided more than 600 nets—thanks to your support! Hundreds of villagers continue to request nets from our Mali staff as they know that net usage is the only way to prevent them from contracting malaria—Africa’s most life-threatening disease. At just $6.50 per net (and a $1 contribution from the villager), even a small donation can have a significant impact on village families. One net protects a mother and her three children as they sleep together on a cot in their mud hut, so $7.50 goes a long way! We anticipate an increased need for nets over the next few months and hope to provide them for all those that don’t currently have access to one in 24 villages.
