Our objective is to help each Liberian child escape the bonds of poverty and hopelessness by providing educational materials and technologies and to set up libraries for schools and communities so that every child in Liberia is able to fulfill their potential and to make a difference. It is our desire also that each child in Liberia will have access to brick-and-mortar library.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

There are no modern libraries in Liberia and the books in the school libraries so old that you tell the age by the cover. Some elementary school children have to walk five miles to a high school to do their assignment. There is one public university library and the situation there is not even better than the high school.

How will this project solve this problem?

Libraries for Liberia Foundation has already started donating books to replace outdated books and books that are out of circulation. Students will be able to borrow books from their own school library or community library and not have to travel long distances to borrow books or study.

Potential Long Term Impact

Making these books available to students will help them become good readers and give them the opportunity and access that we that parents did not have. The libraries saves families that cost of buying reading materials from the schools when they cannot even afford it.
