Plans for 2014

Dear supporters,

Thank you for your gifts to our Mobile Teepee Library project! The 2013 project went great and we are speaking with our partners to work up a plan for the 2014 project.

We will keep you posted on the progress of this project and what it will entail as the details are decided. To make things simpler we will be combining this project under our main fundraising project for rural school libraries (http://www.globalgiving.org/projects/school-libraries-for-mongolia/) and post the updates together. You can get more info at that page.

We hope that you all had a great holiday season and New Year and thank you again so much for supporting our efforts to bring quality education solutions to rural communities around Mongolia.

Thank you so much for your support!

Materials at Hatgal school

Thank you everyone for your support of our mobile teepee library project! This year our partner volunteers split into two groups to visit East and West Taiga and teach English and basic health skills. Both camps had a successful couple of weeks and are planning to continue in the years to come. We have put all the teepee materials into storage for use next years and the books and other supplies that we sent up are currently being used by students at the Hatgal school near Huvsgul Lake.

We are eager to continue working in the region and will reactivate this project when the time comes to do another push for books and materials that will be needed.

Thank you so much for your ongoing support and encouragement!

Materials on the bus!

We have exciting news to share about our Mobile Library project in Tsagaanuur! We just packed up numerous boxes of English books, school supplies, and materials needed to setup 2 teepee libraries in the Tsataan summer camps in East and West Taigas. 24 Peace Corps volunteers are splitting into two teams and making the long trip to setup the libraries and spend two weeks doing training, English teaching, and health checkups. It's very exciting for us to see this project happening and will post a new report in about two weeks after the pictures are in and we have reports from both teams. Serdamba, our contact from a local regional school is very eager see this project be a success and he will use the materials provided at his school during the school year and winter as well. It is great to work with such motivated people! Thank you all for your support. Photos and final project report coming soon.

Mobile Library Preparation

Hello everyone! We're moving forward well with the Mobile Teepee Library project. We've priced out the teepee materials, are writing content for the health books, identifying which books will be most useful for the mobile library, and finding bags to divide up the books between families so they can travel with them as they move their camp. Several Peace Corps volunteers are working with us to create the health care book content as well as prepare English training, health care teachings, and other educational activities that will take place at the Tsataan summer camp locations. We will have more info as the preparations continue as well as some pictures and statistics about the Tsataan people group that this project is being put on for. We appreciate your support so much, thank you for being a part of this exciting story! Edurelief Staff
