Milk distribution to babies in Rajarajeswari.
Thanks in part to the generous support received from donors through GlobalGiving, over the past several months Care&Share has successfully continued to distribute milk to the small children attending literacy centers in five poverty-stricken slums in Vijayawada.
Because of the additional donations we have received via GlobalGiving, Care&Share has expanded the milk distribution project to include approximately 100 newborn babies and their mothers in the slums of Kandrika and Rajarajeswari. This is part of our ongoing effort to actually prevent disease and malnutrition in babies and toddlers as opposed to simply confronting its effects when the kids reach the age at which they would generally show up at our literacy centers.
Once again, thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your generous support!
PS: The heavy rains that have battered Andhra Pradesh over the past two weeks have made the situation in these slums ever more dramatic. Kandrika and Rajarajeswari themselves are presently completely underwater.
