Summary
Food and water are the most basic of needs in human life. Many military families will go hungry during the holidays because of financial hardship due to illness, injury and other disasters. Our goal is to provide 500 families with the resources needed to keep food on their tables during the holidays. Help U.S. military parents provide nourishing meals for their children to keep them happy and healthy this holiday season.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
There are many military families that face hardship due to injury, illness and even death. Our soldiers and/or their surviving family members have made huge sacrifices for their country. We would like to ease their minds and give back by providing meals for them during the holiday season.
How will this project solve this problem?
This project will keep the spirits of our military heroes and their families high throughout the holiday season. Helping to feed these families will give these troubled families one less thing to worry about.
Potential Long Term Impact
According to a U.S. Army report in 2010 soldier suicides reached record highs. Other dangerous behaviors reported included drunk driving and drug abuse. We hope to show our soldiers that there are people that care for them when they are in need. We hope that this project will feed hundreds of hungry military families and give them comfort during the holidays.
Project Message
My husband has PTSD. We were in desperate need of groceries, clothes for our children and money for bills when I learned about Mercy for Me. They responded quickly and saved Christmas for our family!
