YAO’s Chicago chapter hosted its first-ever Tunes for Tanzania benefit concert this past winter. Over 150 guests packed into Schubas for a benefit concert featuring three local bands, plus a raffle and live auction for 10 prizes, all to raise awareness and $15,695 for Opportunity’s microfinance in Tanzania. “We’re so excited about the success of Tunes for Tanzania and hope other chapters will replicate it with their own local bands,” says YAO Manager Sonya Perez-Lauterbach. This concert was a great way to promote the work of Opportunity, raise funds, and have fun while doing it!
The money that was raised that night, provides over 80 Trust Groups with their initial loan to finance their new business in Tanzania.
