Save Domestic Pigeons and Doves From Euthanasia
Spirit Wants to Live
This juvenile king pigeon, named Spirit by shelter volunteers, was saved from euthanasia by MickaCoo Pigeon & Dove Rescue.
Blanco & Bean
Homing pigeon Blanco (most likely lost after a "wedding dove release") and his mate unreleasable feral Bean, were both rescued by MickaCoo. They fell in love at first sight and have been adopted into a forever home.
Yuzu and Shae
Rescued king pigeon Yuzu (shown here wearing his pigeon pants) and his person Shae volunteer at adoption and outreach events as ambassadors on behalf of MickaCoo Pigeon & Dove Rescue.
Doves Pierre & Piper
Pierre was surrendered to MickaCoo at the age of 12 months with an untreated splayed leg that made him unable to stand or walk. Piper was found as a stray in San Jose and rescued from shelter euthanasia by MickaCoo. They fell in love and Piper was an incredibly gentle, loving and supportive mate to Pierre throughout his surgeries and recovery. Pierre can now stand, walk, strut and fly and is very happy to have the use of his legs.
Rocky Making New Friends
Rocky, a king pigeon saved from shelter euthanasia in 2007, is a wonderful ambassador for MickaCoo Pigeon & Dove Rescue and participates in many Humane Education programs.
Valiant: King of the Lettuce
Pigeons are highly intelligent, emotional and social. Valiant, a domestic king pigeon bred for meat and likely ceremonially "released" was found hiding under a car on New Year's Eve in San Francisco.

Yuzu & Quince
Yuzu & Quince arrived at the SF animal shelter as sick, stray baby king pigeons in need of treatment, supportive foster care and a forever home if they were to escape euthanasia. They were childhood sweethearts and grew to be a mated couple. They are very happy and lucky to have been adopted into a wonderful, loving forever home. (Photo by Shae Irving)
Pablo
Pablo is an adult feral (free-flying) pigeon who sheered his wing off in a collision with a high-tension wire and thus lost his ability to survive in the wild. MickaCoo paid for the surgical procedure to clean and close the wound and then cared for him while he recovered and until he was adopted into a wonderful, loving forever home where he is quite happy.
