5.29.2015 Island Update
By Mike Lover | Director, Fundraising
Hello!
Thus far, we have raised $235 through GlobalGiving towards our goal of $4,000 to assist with in-country transportation and really need your help. Mfangano Island has roughly 18,000 residents, depending on the time of year and is separated by a giant mountain in the middle. On the half of the island where our bike shop is located, there are 200 motorbikes and 1 car. The team at the shop has sold through 1000 bikes we have sent. We will be sending another shipment in the fall of 2015 and collection of those bikes has begun.
Austin and Becca will be heading to the Island in August to visit with the team.
Bicycles for Humanity Colorado puts 100% of the funds we raise back into the cause. We have no overhead from paid staff as we all volunteer our time.
Best,
Mike Lover

On the half of the island where our bike shop is located, there are 200 motorbikes and 1 car. The team at the shop has sold through 900 bikes we have sent. We shipped 350 bikes on 6/30/2014 and will be sending another shipment in the fall of 2015.
Mike and Elijah are out on their road bikes, racing against other national racers and representing the great cycling community that has formed on the island.
