The project "Merry Crisis" was created to raise funds and awareness for the Homeless World Cup Foundation during the Festive Season.
There are one billion of homeless people in our world today and we have to think about them everyday. However, when the weather is miserable and we are all united with our families, around a nice Christmas meal, we also have to think of those who are on the streets, isolated or have broken the bonds with their loved ones.
This project asked for general donations to the Homeless World Cup Foundation which uses football to change the lives of homeless people around the world. It works with a network of 74 partners in countries like Indonesia, Austria, Japan or Costa Rica. The grassroots programmes present in these countries work on a daily basis to introduce or keep football in the lives of homeless people. Football gives them a routine, the opportunity to be part of a team, a healthier life style, etc.
As per mid-February, the project is now closed. The money raised through it will go towards developing and supporting these grassroots programmes making sure they keep working on the ground but can also grow. The Foundation also delivers support-either with coaching, training or logistics, depending on what the needs of the partners are.
Thank you to all who donated. It makes a big difference in the lives of thousands of homeless people!
