Over the festive period the Homeless World Cup is raising money to support our work across the world, combating homelessness by giving homeless people a hand-up, not a hand-out. No one wishes to be homeless, yet one billion people worldwide will find themselves unsheltered, hungry and isolated this Christmas. This situation is unacceptable. Help the Homeless World Cup to make a difference by donating today.
There are one billion homeless people in our world today. This is a global issue that affects every nation. The Homeless World Cup has a vision for a healthy, abundant, confident world where everyone has a home, a basic human need. Homelessness is a global issue that affects every nation.
Each year the Homeless World Cup invests in an international network of partner organisations, creating grassroots football projects that take homeless people from the street to the pitch and encourage them to beat addiction, find employment and education and rebuild relationships with family and friends.
When a homeless person gets involved in football they communicate and build relationships with others; they become teammates, learning to trust and share; they have a responsibility to attend training sessions and games, to be on time and prepared to participate. They feel part of something. These skills and attributes are all transferable to daily life and therefore help a homeless person see that they can change their lives.
