More Information About this Project

Project Needs and Beneficiaries

Since October of 2007 Nascent Solutions has been serving over three thousand vulnerable people in the Teso region of Uganda, some of whom have physical and mental disabilities. These victims of war and disease are usually subjected to discrimination and excluded from most of the social services available to their communities. There are basically no resources allocated for addressing their needs where they have been identified and understood.

Activities

Through a local team of volunteers, Nascent will construct two three bedrooms houses by using mud bricks made by the locals and cement. Cement will be used to build wheel chair access ramps. Wheelchairs will be given to the disabled to ease mobility.

This project is now in implementation and no longer available for funding. Received funds will be used to accomplish concrete objectives as indicated in the project's "Activities" section. Updates will be posted under the "Project Report" tab as they become available.

Solving these two families problem helps to reduce the burden disability is putting on this society and indicates optimism that someday every disabled person will have a home and means to live sustainable lives. The house will last a lifetime.
