In January, days of non-stop rains pounded Indonesia’s capital, Jakarta, and brought the city to a halt. Businesses shut down and thousands of residents were forced to flee their homes in hopes of finding safety from the flooding.
With your generous support, Mercy Corps was able to be there right when disaster struck. Immediately, we distributed 1,000 tarps to assist with shelter and 1,000 jerry cans for families to store clean water. Since then, over 2,000 hygiene and cleaning kits have been given to families affected as well. We are happy to report most people have now returned to their homes and are in the rebuilding phase.
Though we will continue to provide assistance to those affected by the flooding, we will no longer be doing a project page through GlobalGiving. If you would like to still donate to the mission of Mercy Corps through GlobalGiving, we encourage you to check out our Help Turn Crisis Into Opportunity project. You can also continue to follow our progress in Indonesia and see our other programs in the country as well.
We are truly thankful for your generous contribution and for helping the people of Jakarta get back on their feet quickly!
Project Reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
If you donate to this project or have donated to this project, you will get an e-mail when this project posts a report. You can also subscribe for reports via e-mail without donating or by subscribing to this project's RSS feed.
Combined with other sources of funding, this project raised enough money to fund the outlined activities and is no longer accepting donations.
