This project works with communities throughout the West Bank affected by decades of colonization, expulsion, occupation, and oppression through community theatre, interactive workshops, story-telling for kids, educational talks, and community building.
Palestinian communities are largely isolated from each other and from the rest of the world, which contributes to feelings of marginalization and hopelessness. Occupation, isolation and military violence have resulted in high levels of individual and collective trauma, affecting children and youth particularly harshly.
Theatre, art, and other cultural expressions are vital in supporting the psycho-social development of children, youth, and the population as a whole. The Freedom Bus travels to communities responding to the fundamental human need to share one's story and have it acknowledged and honored through an applied theatre approach called Playback Theatre. Additionally, this project connects Palestinian communities within the West Bank to Palestinians in Gaza and the Diaspora through video link.
The project will reach over 2,000 children, youth, and adults - fostering community health through the sharing of stories. This project and its various activities will contribute to the promotion of human rights while fighting against all kinds of discrimination.
The freedom ride represents the aspirations of the Palestinian people to be freed from an illegal occupation, to exercise rights of self-determination, and to demand justice ...
