Making up the Lives of the Mentally Sick People



Horizon is a Non profit Organization based in Hargeisa -Somaliland. It was established in early 2007 by a group of youth volunteers of both genders. This organization was set up to promote and work voluntarily to provide basic social needs and development activities in Somaliland. It provides different basic social activities. In particular, it provides humanitarian care for the mentally sick people and the mentally disabled people in Hargeisa - Somaliland

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

The higher rate of unemployment and the impacts of the Civil wars are the main feeding issues of this stigma among the youth. Most of them are homeless, living without care and lack the general basic needs. These mentally sick people are also a risk to themselves and others.

How will this project solve this problem?

This project will focus on and guarantee to reduce this stigma and problem and to better the lives of the mentally ill people. This project will also create a new vision for their future and will plan short and long term policies focusing to the target group.

Potential Long Term Impact

The Long term of this project will better the lives of 70 Mentally Sick People and this program will produce new generations in the long term. The expertise of our volunteer group will plan the long term strategies of the targeted group. It also plans the skill creation and the job creation for the mentally recovered people which will help them improve their living standards, rise out of poverty, and be back in their community in the future. They will be fulfilling their mission and dreams.
