The Make-A-Wish Oregon grants the wishes of children with life-threatening medical conditions to enrich the human experience with hope, strength and joy.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Make-A-Wish Oregon serves children, ages 2 through 17, living in Oregon and Clark County, Washington and who are deemed eligible for a wish by their doctor because they suffer from a life-threatening medical condition. We have a strong commitment to never turn away an eligible child; unfortunately, the demand for wishes has outpaced our ability to grant them and we currently have an average of 80 kids awaiting the opportunity for their wish to come true.
How will this project solve this problem?
Make-A-Wish Oregon strives to grant a wish to every eligible child in are area. Should our goal of raising $50,000 be achieved, it would greatly reduce the amount of time sick children currently wait for their wish to be granted.
Potential Long Term Impact
Wishes are wonderful experiences for children with life-threatening medical conditions; they also benefit the whole community who shares in an activity that derives hope from a common purpose and enriches lives through the wish process.
