Summary
Ignitus Worldwide is an organization focused on youth empowerment through leadership development and civic engagement. While our organization has sites all over the United States and the world, this project is focused on improving the lives of students in the slum settlements in Nairobi, Kenya. Our project in Kenya has developed over the years and there are many promising young leaders among them. This is, however, also one of the most challenging sites due to the lack of resources.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
The students at this site are eager to learn despite the many obstacles they face in their daily lives due to the lack of resources at their school. Right now the school only has enough firewood to last them until January. Without firewood the cooks are unable to prepare lunch. For many students this is the one and only meal they have a day so it is imperative that we help them by acquiring the resources they need to sustain the student population.
How will this project solve this problem?
This project will raise enough money to solve the issue of sustaining lunch. This will in turn enhance the learning environment at the school allowing the faculty and students to continue developing young leaders. This minor solution to one problem among an array of obstacles.
Potential Long Term Impact
Any contribution made makes a difference in the lives of these children. Children in the slums are so used to dissappointment and abandonment that our sustaining relationship with them is a reason to have hope for their futures.
Project Message
