An Operation Theatre in LRBT Akora Hospital is required for additional 8 Surgeries everyday for 954,607 Visually Impaired & 95,652 Blind people .Most of the population can't afford treatment.
9.5 million poor and deprived people are being providing FREE eye care services including Free Eye Surgeries by LRBT Akora Hospital built at a place which has Nowshera, Mardan, Swabi, Charsadda, Peshawar and Attock as its catchment area. Present # of FREE surgeries being performed every year is 7611 which has now increased by 5% this year. Due to infra structure limitations of the present operation theatre there is a massive backlog of surgeries & patients have to wait for long time.
With availability of additional space through expansion and equipment to carry out major surgeries, we would be able to meet the requirements of this area, without having them to wait for an extended period of time
With an additional facility, the number of daily surgeries performed in the hospital would increase by 8/day.1920 additional patients per annum are expected to benefit from major surgeries(@5% increase over previous year (9600 indirect beneficiaries)
