GlobeMed educates & trains 2,000 student leaders to build a movement of people who believe in health and justice for all. We partner students with grassroots organizations who collaborate to develop sustainable solutions to improve health. The Result: organizations with a greater capacity and a generation of young people equipped to transform the world. GlobeMed strives to lower barriers by providing leadership training and on-the-ground experience to all students regardless of privilege.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
From Africa to the Americas to Asia, people living in poverty continue to die of preventable and treatable diseases. With access to technology and university resources, thousands of students have the ability and responsibility to build a better world. To be effective change makers, students need leadership skills and on-the-ground experience. These opportunities cannot be afforded by socioeconomically disadvantaged students who are crucial to engage.
How will this project solve this problem?
GlobeMed unlocks the power of all students to impact health around the world. We strongly believe that privilege should not determine a student's involvement and leadership development within global health. GlobeMed strives to lower socioeconomic barriers and increase diversity by providing financial assistance to students in need. We provide scholarships for on-site internships with partners, grants for global health conferences, and funding for leadership trainings.
Potential Long Term Impact
Through our long-term partnership model, students provide critical support to grassroots organizations and make a tangible difference in the lives of others into the future. To create lasting impact, the GlobeMed National Office manages leadership development programs that foster a generation of leaders, advocates and informed citizens. These 2,000 young leaders will act as bridges between grassroots initiatives & the resources they need to tackle their communities' most pressing challenges.
