Summary

Now more than ever, youth in Pakistan need access to safe and quality education. This project will sustain MDF schools with tuition, uniforms, quality teachers that receive annual teacher training, books, and access to education that cultivates critical thinking to impoverished and deserving students.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

With so many schools damaged or being used for other public needs in the aftermath of the floods, over a million students are without schools. Previously only 63% of Pakistani students finished primary school, now more than ever, students in under served areas need a safe spaces to attend school. Without education, critical thinking capabilities, and economic opportunities impoverished youth are susceptible not only to poverty but vulnerable to recruitment into extremist organizations.

How will this project solve this problem?

Provide youth with quality education that will increase self-confidence, improve ability to make informed decisions, and ensure marketable skills so they can be contributing members of society capable of assisting with the reconstruction of Pakistan.

Potential Long Term Impact

Educating youth (and ensuring girls and women's education) improves the health status of children and the economic development of their communities. Statistics reveal that for every 1% increase in education there is a .3% increase in economic growth.
