Summary

SDI empowers women and girl children through training to improve their rights, break economic and social barriers, raise women's standing in society, enhance equity & prevent vulnerability & disease.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

The emphasis of this project is on the rural women and providing them with the opportunity of livelihood skills that would ensure the effective tackling of hunger, poverty, disease and unemployment challenges in our rural communities. The target age group of the project is 15 years and above. The focus of this project is on mass upliftment and not premium training. The idea behind the project is to ensure women's right. This contributes to women strenght and self esteem, in the society.

How will this project solve this problem?

We build the capacity of rural women and girl children with livelihood skills on: 1. Crop and animal husbandry; 2. Textiles-design, dye and printing 3. Soap and detergent production and; 4. Food processing and preservation

Potential Long Term Impact

Our 2013 goals are to raise the strength and self esteem of 10,000 women in 26 subdivisions in Cameroon by actively participating in the economic and social activities of their communities to enhance economic & social equity.

Project Message

The livelihood skills project of SDI is there to enforce the 'No Cameroonian left behind Attitude', by reaching out to the uneducated, & unemployed rural masses of Cameroon and build their capacities
