Dear Donors and supporters
Here at LGBT Voice Tanzania and LGBT youth sponsorship fund want to share our profound appreciation for the donations that have kept this project running and our youth attending training. We thank and recognize the effort each and every one of our donors have made; thanks to all of you we have raised $2,640 sor far.
At this point our first four LGBT youth have been sponsored and are attending training. One of the youth is doing great in a designing and decoration field, he will graduated in December but he has started making clothes and decorating halls for ceremonies. His work is the best we have ever seen in the gay community.
There's progress, but much remains to be done, because we have just started and only four youth out of 32 identified have been sponsored, this creates a great need for raising more funds to meet the needs of the remaining 28 youth. But also we have to know that Homophobia and transphobia is at increase and many youth are being renounced and kicked out of their families, making them homeless and more vulnerable. According to our findings, when they youth are homeles, do not go to school, and have no support, they become hopeless and start enging in unsafe sex, drug aduse, steeling and committing suicide.
Please continue standing with us in this and help us build the future of out LGBT youth, they need good education and skills so that they can live a better life and become leaders of this nation in the future.
Thanks for your continued support.
We would like to thank all our supporters for supporting our work, so far this project have raise $1,210 recieved and $555 has been spent as follows.
LGBT Voice Tanzania still has a balance of $585 in our account waiting to sponsor another LGBT youth who will be joining collage early september to major in Hotel management.
There are still 29 LGBT youth who need support from LGBT Voice Tanzania so that they can obtain requisite skills as either entrepreneurs or entrepreneurs to be self employed, employ others and be marketable wherever they find themselves
LGBT Voice Tanzania is now partnering with Children Society a non-profit organization that will provide elementary education to 7 LGBT youth who never attended elementary school so that they can know how to read and write before they are enrolled for vocational training.
Kindly continue supporting this special project because it is the only project that intends and works to brighten the future of LGBT youth in Tanzania.
Thanks to all our suppoters who have supported us for the last six months. LGBT Voice Tanzania identified 36 LGBT in eight regions namely Dar es salaam 9, Arusha 6, Mwanza 3, Mbeya 4, Tanga 7, Morogoro 2, Iringa 1 and Unguja 4 youth who are not attending school due to reasons related to their sex orientation and gender identity but we intend to support 32 who are in great need.
Through the last five months have only been able to sponsor only one LGBT youth 19yrs old to attend a vocational training School at Chang`ombe to major in Motor Vehicle Mechanics and driving. We are sure next Month we will be able to sponsor another youth because we raised about $600 in March.
We still have 30 LGBT youth who need support LGBT Voice Tanzania so that they can obtain requisite skills as either entrepreneurs or entrepreneurs to be self employed, employ others and be marketable wherever they find themselves
LGBT Voice Tanzania is still negotiating with Children Society to see if they can allow all the LGBT youth who are based in Dar es salaam to join their training centre and we can be making payments as donations come in.
Please continue supporting this special project because it is the only project that intends and works to brighten the future of LGBT youth in Tanzania.
Feel free to share with your friends.
LGBT -identified Youth in Tanzania routinely experience direct and structural discrimination, persecution and violence due to lack of awareness of LGBT issues and extensive social stigma, at all levels of government and in society. They experience reduced access to healthcare, rights violations by police (often taking the form of extortion and physical and sexual violence),extensive discrimination in employment, education, and are stigmatized in most other areas of social life
The number of LGBT youth who are expelled from school is increasing, LGBT VOICE Tanzania has already identified 75 youth who are out of school just because they are LGBT.
Currently we are working on partnering with Children Education Society so that all the LGBT youth who are located in Dar es salaam should attend classes at CHESO.
So far we have raised $440 which is enough to sponsor one LGBT youth to attend training and obtain skills, we are therefore going to sponsor Ally a gay youth to attend training for six months.
There is still a great need for funding for us to sponsor 53 LGBT youth who are in need of training so that they can obtain requisite skills as entrepreneurs to be self employed, employ others and be marketable wherever they find themselves.
Please keep supporting this special project which will build the well-being and future of more than 52 LGBT Youth in Tanzania.
