Summary
This project will improve services for leukemia and thalassemia patients at a recently renovated medical clinic.
What is the issue, problem, or challenge?
Thalassemia and leukemia are blood diseases that affect thousands of Iraqis. A Thalassemia Center and Blood Bank is currently being rehabilitated, however the need to change public perceptions of these diseases and of blood donations remains unfulfilled.
How will this project solve this problem?
This project will fund advertising and promotional costs for a campaign to increase awareness about blood diseases and the importance of blood donations.
Potential Long Term Impact
The project aims at improving local knowledge about thalassemia and leukemia, as well as increasing the number of blood donors in the project area.
Project Message
Thalassemia patients need regular access to more blood than currently available in this facility. With this project, we hope to increase blood donations to meet the demand for transfusions.
