Rye Barcott - President and Founder
While an undergraduate at UNC, Rye founded CFK in Kenya with Salim Mohamed and the late Tabitha Atieno Festo, who each shared the conviction that the poor have the solutions to the problems they face. Rye served on active duty in the U.S. Marine Corps for five years and is currently a joint MPA and MBA candidate at Harvard University.
Salim Mohamed - Executive Director
Salim was abandoned by his mother and spent the first 4 years of his life on the streets of Nairobi with his grandmother, and then was taken to a children's home. Salim came to CFK from the Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA) in another Nairobi slum. The British Council has twice employed Salim as a consultant to help launch youth sports programs in Ghana.
Caroline Sakwa - Deputy Director
Caroline is trained as a peer youth counselor has extensive experience in community-based development. She was previously employed by Save the Children (UK), the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), Mathare Youth Sports Association (MYSA) HIV/AIDS project, the Nairobi Youth Counseling Centre, and the Kenya Voluntary Development Association (KVDA).
