Giving Cycle: Noreen's Story

By Noreen Kombo with Pamela Collett | Trainee and Communications

Noreen Kombo, film trainee Hot Sun Foundation

My name is Noreen Kombo

What compelled me to come to Kibera Film School?

Something very sad.  I was pregnant, but lost the baby.  The loss made me think about what do I really want in my life.  I saw Kibera Film School on twitter and decided to try it out.

Hot Sun Foundation attracts interesting people. People are knowledgeable. We exchange ideas. It's a healthy learning environment where everybody knows something

For me, it's better to learn in a small group than a class of 100 people. I'm impressed with what I've learned so far.

Through the filmmaking training, I'm looking at storytelling in a different way.  Now I'm starting to think I want to be a very good film editor. I love polishing something rough to make it better.

Why should people invest in Hot Sun Foundation?

If they invest and empower one person, then that one youth can empower a whole community.  Me personally once I am done with the filmmaking  training, I will  start coming back for volunteer work. People give to us and we give back - starting  a giving cycle.

Reminder

Wednesday 17 October is Bonus Day.  Global Giving will match your contribution by 30%.

Join the Giving Cycle.

Thank you.
