Working through a grassroots community centre in Borel, one of Rio’s most conflict-ridden favelas, to bring opportunities to 1300 youth through practical training and an alternative to the drugs trade
The centre works in one of Rio’s most dangerous favelas to improve youth opportunities through job training in areas such as IT, baking and hair cutting as well as education programs such as reading and writing. School support programs help keep more children in school in an area of high truancy and further recreational activities keep them off the violent streets. A community bakery and salon allows on-the-job development whilst providing much-needed services to the local community.
