The new Shalom Center is off to a great start. Since the kickoff meetings in January, Cedar Village has been spearheading an initiative to raise awareness about the prevalence of elder abuse and the need to keep victims safe from harm. As a result, five referrals have been received since the beginning of the year.
Cedar Village leadership is continuing to meet with local police and fire departments, Adult Protective Services, hospitals and banks to identify various needs and challenges. In addition, Carol Silver Elliott, Cedar Village CEO/President, recently met with White House Health Policy Advisors and CMS staff.
Cedar Village will continue to reach out to potential collaborative partners and funding sources to provide additional community education in the coming months. The month of June is Elder Abuse Awareness Month and plans are in the works to engage the community.
