Teaching young kids about the world through sport!

JUST LIKE YOU (JLU) is teamed up with NIKE to go to elementary schools around LA and teach kids (aged 6-11 years) about other cultures through the traditional sports and games from around the world.

What is the issue, problem, or challenge?

EDUCATION | The children are the future! We instil in them the global worldview necessary to be successful in today's world. GLOBAL FOCUS | As the world changes, we realize how interconnected we are & how important it is to understand our similarities to create a culture of peace. UNDER-SERVED | These communities are understaffed and we need to equip these kids with tools to compete in the global economy. We serve as mentors & role models. HEALTH/NUTRITION | Promote a healthy, active lifestyle.

How will this project solve this problem?

Each week, students spend 20-30 minutes learning about the history, culture and language of a particular country. They then play kids games from that country, learning that kids around the world play "just like you".

Potential Long Term Impact

We hope to develop a comprehensive curriculum that can be easily implemented in schools across the country. Teachers, administrators or supervisors could use our program to teach students about internationalism in a dynamic and engaging way.
