This project provides high quality training in security and self defense for youths in Cameroon from a highly deprived community. With many family members in acute poverty and struggling to survive daily,they have few opportunities to improve their life and livelihood skills. The course includes a two-month training and placement in good security company;on completion they will be helped to secure a good job. Providing these youths secure employment will provide them a clear route out of poverty
Youths from poor Cameroon community find it very difficult to get good jobs. Many end up unemployed or hustling for casual work on a daily basis. Most jobs are gained through word-of-mouth, but poor families don't know the right people. There are many jobs in security companies,but people from deprived communities don't get them. A decent job is the most powerful step to escaping poverty,and this project will provide youths the chance to get a good security training and job with a reputable firm
This project will provide training in security and self defense to youths in a highly disadvantaged community. The course provides a well-recognized qualification and includes a 2 month placement in a high quality security company, enabling the youths to practice and improve the skills they have learned. The young people will then be recommended to reputable companies, giving them access to jobs they would not otherwise be considered for.
50 youths will gain skills and a qualification in security. The placement will give them crucial work experience which will position them well for employment. Recommendations to future employers will open doors that usually remain firmly shut to youths from deprived communities. Having a steady job with a good employer will provide these youths a stable income and the potential for career progression, which will help to lift their whole family out of poverty.
